The Company

Break-Thru Productions has been set up to produce and stage professional original works from black British female writers.

Our work aims to BREAK-THRU to construct transformative narratives about black sisterhood and womanhood. Director Lunga Yeni is passionate about telling stories about Black female empowerment.

We are unique in that our training programme has been exclusively designed for African and Caribbean writers, directors and actors and will deconstruct, analyse and put into context the history of black female representation from Hollywood to Pinewood asking:

• WHO controls these images?

• WHAT these images of black women mean?

• WHY these images persist?

• HOW the images impact our lives and our futures?

Break-Thru Productions aims to empower black women and girls with knowledge of the historical misogyny, hypocrisy and systemic discrimination that has led to the political, socio-economic and cultural landscape in which we find ourselves.
