Break-Thru Productions: “Limitless” Outreach Project
Creating new narratives. Redefining representation.
The Limitless Programme was born from Artistic Director Lunga Yeni’s desire to create a new visual language for and about young Black women. This unique initiative guides participants through every stage of the filmmaking process - from pre-production to post-production - empowering them to express their experiences and perspectives through film. Throughout the programme, the young women engage in critical discussions about mainstream narratives of Black womanhood and reflect on how these images have shaped their sense of identity and belonging. A special thank you to Ms. Oakley for her unwavering faith in this vision, her continued support, and for welcoming Break-Thru Productions into The Elmgreen School.
And to our incredible group of pioneer pupils:
Chaya, Caitlin, Kashieyah, Mariama, Pariss, Nana, Ra’Miyah, Megane, Brianna, Ajah, Taliyah, Chinwendu, and Sahadetou -thank you for your creativity, courage, and commitment to telling stories that matter.
BTP Filmmaker’s Intensive Training Programme
Dive into film. Discover your voice. Define your vision.
Step into the world of film production with Break-Thru Productions’ Filmmaker’s Intensive Training Programme — a groundbreaking opportunity for aspiring Black British women filmmakers to gain professional experience and bring their creative visions to life. Participants will collaborate with industry professionals to produce an exciting short documentary series, Dream Catchers - a collection of stories celebrating ordinary women doing extraordinary things.
This unparalleled programme combines hands-on production training with film theory, offering a unique space for women to explore, express, and engage in dialogue about their place and power within the world of film. Led by award-winning director Lunga Yeni, participants will gain first-hand experience across all stages of production - from pre-production through post — observing the subject/director dynamic, and assisting the Director of Photography (DOP), Assistant Director (AD), sound technicians, and grip team.
This intensive programme culminates in the completion of the Dream Catchers documentary series, which will be screened at the Southbank — showcasing the next generation of Black British women storytellers.
